Kaoru Iwamura was born in Tokyo where she studied piano at Musachino Academy of Music with Motoko Kinebuchi and Professor Konstantin Ganev and received Master's Diploma in 1995. During the Master's study she developed a keen interest in historical performance practice and especially in the fortepiano. The wish to specialise in fortepiano playing brought Kaoru to The Netherlands, to study with Professor Stanley Hoogland at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. In 1999 she continued her studies at the Conservatory of Amsterdam from where she graduated in 2003, receiving the 'Advanced Diploma'. During the studies she also received tuition from Patrick Ayrton (harpsichord) and Professor Jacques van Oortmerssen (organ).

In 2002 she received a scholarship from the Netherlands (Internationalisieringsfonds) and from Germany and had the opportunity to study at the Mozarteum in Salzburg with Wolfgang Brunner (fortepiano) and Professor Siegbert Rampe (harpsichord).  As a fortepiano soloist and as an ensemble player Kaoru has performed in the Netherlands, Germany, England, Austria, Italy and in Japan. Venues where she has been heard include the fringe concerts in Early Music Festival in Utrecht, the English Church, the Beurs van Berlage, van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, in Houghton Hall in Norfolk, in Gut Arenshorst and Michael Haydn Gedenkstätte in Salzburg, St. Cecilia's hall in Edinburgh, in Asahikawa, Tsukuba, Mito, Numazu, Sendai, Hamamatsu and in Tokyo in Japan.

She is a recipient of Muzio Clementi Award for 2006 by Finchcocks Museum for period keyboard instruments in England.

In 2008 she was featured in a live broadcast at the Dutch AVRO radio 4 network, playing from the Spiegelzaal at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.

In the autumn 2009, she was invited as a programmer and player during the three days of ‘pianoforte festival’ in Honig Breethuis in Zaandijk.

De Japanse fortepianiste Kaoru Iwamura is regelmatig te horen in solorecitals en in ensembles in binnen- en buitenland (onder meer in Engeland, Oostenrijk, Duitsland, Italië en Japan). Zij was te horen tijdens de radio live uitzending van AVRO radio 4 in de Spiegelzaal van het Concertgebouw Amsterdam.

In de herfst van 2009 werd ze gevraagd om het 3-daagse “Pianoforte festival” te programmeren, waar ze drie verschillende concerten gaf met een zowel klassiek als modern repertoire.

Kaoru is geboren in Tokio, waar ze piano studeerde aan de Musashino Academy of Music. Tijdens haar studie ontwikkelde zij een grote interesse voor de historische uitvoeringspraktijk, in het bijzonder die van de fortepiano. Haar passie voor de fortepiano bracht haar naar Nederland waar ze zich verder specialiseerde in de fortepiano aan de conservatoria van Den Haag en Amsterdam.

Kaoru is de winnares van de Muzio Clementi Award. Zij ontving de prijs in het Engelse Finchcocks Musical Museum als een specialiste op het gebied van het vroege toetsinstrument voor haar subtiele uitvoering op tien verschillende toetsinstrumenten (gebouwd tussen 1668 en 1866).
